MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES

Eight test plots will be established and certain treatments will be performed on each. The size of the plots is determined by lupine area, densities, and presence of woody species. To compare the effects of the treatments on each plot, one test plot will be used as a control in which no management techniques will be performed.

  • Test Plot 1
    • Mowing alone will be performed on this plot.
  • Test Plot 2
    • Mowing along with Foliar herbicide treatment will be performed.
    • Specifications:
      • Grasses, ferns, and herbaceous plants will not be treated.
      • The product that will be used on this site is Arsenal/Accord at a rate of 1.3 oz./20 oz. with 4 gallons of water.
  • Test Plot 3
    • Mowing along with Foliar herbicide treatment will be performed.
    • Specifications:
      • Grasses, ferns, and herbaceous plants will not be treated.
      • The product that will be used on this site is Garlon 3a/Escort at a rate of 20 oz./.3 oz. with 4 gallons of water.
  • Test Plot 4
    • Mowing along with Low Volume Basal herbicide treatment will be performed.
    • Specifications:
      • Grasses, ferns, and herbaceous plants will not be treated.
      • Treatment shall have an even application from ground line to a minimum height of twelve inches on and completely encircling each stem.
      • The product that will be used on this site is Garlon 4/Androc Oil with a rate of 25 oz. with 1 gallon Androc Oil.
  • Test Plot 5
    • Mowing along with Foliar herbicide treatment will be performed.
    • Specifications:
      • Grasses, ferns, and herbaceous plants will not be treated.
      • The product that will be used on this site is Arsenal at a rate of 4 oz. with 4 gallons of water.
  • Test Plot 6
    • Hand cutting woody species close to or flush with the ground.
    • Specifications:
      • Refuse will be cleared from site.
  • Test Plot 7
    • Hand cutting woody species close to or flush with the ground.
    • Specifications:
      • Material will be chipped and wood debris will be scattered on site.
      • The resulting debris shall not accumulate to depths greater than 4 inches.
  • Test Plot 8
    • Control. No management techniques will be performed.
